Most of our team members are from Mumbai. A city where flooding is a major issue during monsoons. A lot of people get affected due to this and the disaster management department has a huge task to carry on. This process can be made more efficient by the use of technology. Therefore, we took this topic under the global impact vertical. Our solution helps people affected by the disaster by providing some common disaster management services on the web. In times of disaster, sometimes people don't have an internet connection. Taking this into consideration, we also made our services available over the cellular network via SMS. We used the SMS relay server based on the TextIt service. In the worst-case scenario, people might not even have a cellular network. We implemented a mesh network powered by Bluetooth that allows users to communicate for any help over that network. We used the Bridgefy SDK to implement this feature. The project we implemented is on a small scale as it was developed in 36 hours for a hackathon. This project has the potential to be scaled for a larger user base and can be used in a real disaster.
