We wanted to create a space for Yolo country residents to get access to basic needs resources and a place for providers like the Yolo County food bank to provide information about their inventory. This can both help residents as well as the food bank, whose challenge was to find a good place to nutritional information for their food.
It uses a map to show locations of different providers in Yolo County, and also way to input different foods that the food bank gets and get the nutritional facts.
We used the Google Maps API for the map and the Edamam API for the nutritional facts. Since we could not use React due to wifi limitations, we created a site using html, css, and javascript.
We had some challenges learning to use some of the APIs and connecting them to our front end using javascript, as well as teaching groupmates HTML, CSS, and JS
We are proud of being able to create a solid product.
We learned a lot about javascript and using API calls.
We hope to add more functionality to the site and more styling.
