Helping Hand
Inspiration
We live in a world where helping individuals is taken for granted. Everyone just concentrates so much on their life that forgets there are many who are indeed and need a hand. I've seen a lot of people seeking the bare minimum help but never received it. We got inspired by how society is currently acting. We wanted to make the change
What it does
This web-app will connect those who need help with those willing to provide. You will be able to see posts from people seeking help. It will give you a link directly to their touching story and how you can contact them. Other pages simply ask for donations and money. We want to give more than that, we want to communicate, give the other individual who is in need a hope that there are people here for them.
How we built it
All-day long, a lot of coffee and code. Pure React, javascript, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
There were many challenges. Our team is new to React, we had a struggle trying to learn and apply the newly learned javascript framework to our project. It took us time, we tried to implement a database, it was working till the last minute we had to remove it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the job we did, it was amazing how you can learn in just 1 day and apply it. We had very good communication overall. Our most important accomplishment was not actually the web-app, but the message we can provide with it. We want everyone to always help those indeed as much as they can. We are proud that we spent more than 24 hours awake trying to do something for the world.
What we learned
We learned to prepare a lot of coffee, type fast, and of course, how to go through a programming language documentation and gather as much information as needed to be able to apply it on the project.
What's next for Helping Hand
We are still learning, we are eager to do so. We will improve the website and let those indeed a chance to have a helping hand.
