Inspiration

I feel like many people want to try volunteering but they struggle in finding a event that they would be passionate about and have easy access to events in that category.

What it does

It matches people to categories of events that they are more likely to be interested in on a website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript through a personality quiz, they can then click on their match to the advanced filters we have to narrow down non-profits. They have the have the opportunity to Volunteer/donate, and they could login in to save their progress.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

A big challenge was debugging the javascript for the filters and making sure when we clicked on run it looked the way I wanted it to. Like sometimes the CSS would be correct by the Javascript would just through me off. In addition, the login page, I feel like I really struggled to set that up and it's still not working the way I intended for it to work. I think I can definitely dedicate more time after this hackathon to figuring out the backend that I need to add for the login to function properly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm really proud of just creating a working prototype, and I'm really proud of my idea to create a find your event quiz to help people figure out an event that they would be interested in.

What's next for Helping Hand

I want to finish the backend for the login page, and I want to add a feature where users can like star non-profits they would be interested in and when they click on their profile they would have access to their starred list.
