All of us are from developing countries and we have observed how many people in our countries face mental health issues but cannot find help because it is a taboo topic in many places. It is also difficult because therapy is usually a huge expense that many people can't even think of affording. This leads to many indirect issues like low productivity, anxiety related outbursts, poverty, abuse etc.
What it does
Our platform is for individuals who have realized that they may be facing mental health issues but cannot get access to the right support. We connect them with volunteer mental healthcare specialists. A smart assessment builds a profile of the user and sends to the specialists who then can provide proper help.
How we built it
We built our design using Figma and presentation using Google slides.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge we faced was the fact that this was our very first hackathon and we were all novices. But that worked in our favour at times because we had many new and different approaches for steps in our project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We worked together perfectly as a team and didn't face any issues collaborating.
What we learned
When time is short, start as early as possible and not to waste too much time on planning.
What's next for PsycAid
We wish to spread usage of this app across developing countries so that more and more people can get help.
