Inspiration

We were inspired by Muse, the Meta AI chatbot, for the creation of our mascot to personify Help Me Decide in a user-friendly manner. We were also inspired by Duolingo’s gamified approach of questionnaires to allow the user experience to feel more interactive instead of exhaustive.

What it does

Our Help Me Decide redesign uses direct approaches to questioning to allow users to identify the next steps in treating their symptoms and connecting them to a care provider to provide an actual diagnosis.

How we built it

We began with researching our problems through looking at preexisting user feedback reviews and clinical studies on user experiences for elderly populations. We also looked at current solutions and conducted usability testing of the actual chatbot. Then, we created several ideations on paper before making the prototype on Figma. We used Procreate to design the mascot.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into difficulty with maintaining a cohesive format for the wireframing process, and there was a big learning curve for us since we had beginner experience with Figma. We overcame this by focusing more on creating a strong and focused solution that we can back through our presentation and reasoning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our approach on making the chatbot more engaging and providing question layout more simplified and accessible to a less tech savvy audience.

What we learned

We learned that our focus should be on creating a solution that addresses the main overlying problems. We also learned that having confidence in our ideas allows us to communicate them in an effective manner.

What's next for Help Me Decide

Include additions for insurance and billing support to Help Me Decide, provide integrations with Apple Watch/FitBit devices to measure and record BPM for heart health, more immersive AI functionality through voice communication to allow natural spoken conversation to occur between users with lower tech literacy, and providing a detailed brief cost analysis to determine the best case scenario for users to seek care.
