Inspiration

We need help, advise and guidance to solve real-life practical problems that we face in a pandemic situation, as well as in our normal daily life. We need physical help with groceries, or emotional help for domestic violence, loneliness, or depression, also medical help, if we fall sick. Very recently, I found myself in situations that requires help and assistance from others, but couldn't find any help! It's not always easy to seek help from others, be it friends or family - people hesitate! On the other hand, there are people ready to help others but don't know who would require their help and how to connect with those in need. In times of quarantine, authorities are also worried about the lack of trained caregivers to manage all the support requests and looking forward to volunteers or NGOs to help them in this regard. We want to focus on this acute need to try to help people self-assess, self-manage, seek and obtain help from others - individuals or organisations, in time of need!

What it does

To solve this problem we have created a digital platform of trust, for connecting help seekers & providers. Register, opt in to be a volunteer to help. Shout, when you need, stay anonymous. Once someone volunteers to help, you can accept & establish contact. As a volunteer, you get the freedom to utilise your expertise. Once you complete a task, get recognised with social credit, which can be used for future benefits. You can also self-assess your situation, mood, anxiety level and care for yourself by listening to soothing instrumental music, or a yoga session video. Also evaluate fear, anxiety, depression or suicidal tendencies, and follow recommended actions, or find appropriate care centers.

How we built it

A mobile app for individuals A web app for organisations

Challenges we ran into

Communication between a team who only came together on friday to solve a problem, was pretty challenging, especially when you are geographically in different time zones.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

A concrete concept and plan to take it forward. Initial designs, value propositions and differentiations are pretty clear, even if we couldn't implement all of those in the prototype.

What I learned

It's possible to sprint neck to neck with youngsters :)

What's next for Help!

We would look forward to take the application live and check possibilities for funding, as we believe there is a business model around this, which can be implemented. So, once the MVP is ready, we need to test the business model.
