Inspiration
There are a lot of great resources available to New Yorkers but they're not always obvious or seem available. Compiling them all together into one easy-to-use interface solves this problem, especially with the ability for users to add submissions.
What it does
It aggregates resources from all sources, from the more severe (food aid, housing) to the entertaining (gaming, good news). Simply click around the tags or begin typing into the search box to see what is currently on the site.
How I built it
Almost purely in React - there were some features I wanted to add that I'd knew I'd need a database for, and since I knew I wouldn't get to that, I simply made a JSON file with all the entries in it that I'm reading off the display.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Getting this up and running from scratch in three days and contributing something that can help my home city.
What's next for Help Is Here - Resource Aggregator for New Yorkers
I'd like to move everything to a database - it's the only way to have more robust user features and interactions. From there I have several features that I think would be helpful to add.
