Inspiration

The inspiration was from past experience of one of our teammates. We wanted to bridge that gap by creating a single, reliable digital "hub" where low-income individuals can find the help or resources they need without the stress of endless searching.

What it does

Help Hub is a centralized platform designed to connect users with essential local resources. Whether it’s finding nearby food pantries, affordable housing leads, or emergency financial assistance, the application simplifies the discovery process. Users can search by category or location to find verified services that match their immediate needs.

How we built it

Used Visual Studios and GitHub as platforms. Used Java as Coding Language. Used Canva for Design. Used Economic Census for Data (Social Assistance).

Challenges we ran into

One of the primary challenges we ran into was getting started with the idea itself. It was initially difficult to determine what direction to take and where to begin. Additionally, cleaning the data and dividing responsibilities within the team posed a challenge, as we needed to clearly decide who would handle which tasks to ensure smooth progress.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of turning a complex social problem into a clear, actionable blueprint in such a short time.

What we learned

We learned that the most important part of any project is the foundation. We discovered how to move past the 'blank page' phase by clearly delegating roles and using GitHub to keep our ideas organized. This process taught us how to translate a complex social mission into a logical technical blueprint.

What's next for Help Hub

To Develop a full working Prototype and Launch it as a web-application, so that it can reach individuals who are in need of it. Idea for upgrade Help Hub range from Establishing a functioning GPS system to Implementing an LLM.
