Inspiration
The website idea was inspired through my volunteer experience at my local food pantry. Through my time volunteering there I realized the importance of having resources for people. There are many people who don't know where to find resources so I decided to help them out with a website.
What it does
My website allows you to search for food pantries and shelters with your zip code. A recipe generator was also added to help people plan meals or figure out what to make with what little they have.
How I built it
I used github, html, css, Javascript, and json
Challenges I ran into
I had no clue how to make the search feature work. After doing some research, I discovered Json and how I could use it to hold data sets. I used json to create the search feature
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud to have been able to complete my first hackathon. I am also proud of figuring out how to make a search feature.
What we learned
I learned how to use json and what it was. It will be useful to know for future projects.
What's next for Help Finder
I plan on adding an option to change the language of the website to remove language barriers. I would also like to add more zip codes to the json. In the future I will add more recipes and ingredient options for variety.
