Inspiration

We were all familiar with Hello Fresh and thought that it would be a great experience to work for a company that we all know very well.

What it does

It provides the user with personalized meal options with as little annoying user interaction as possible, in order to provide the user with the best user experience.

How we built it

We started off by sketching a rough design and afterward making a prototype using Figma. Meanwhile, we also began with coding a backend using NextJs and a Frontend using Tailwind CSS.

Challenges we ran into

When we were planning out our idea of a backend, we first started off trying to implement a Database using Postgresql and Prisma. After a considerable amount of time setting the DB up, we decided to just hardcode the data inside our code, due to its static nature.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

For all of us, it was the first Hackathon, and even though we didn't have a lot of time we still did our best and had the time of our life. We were each able to learn a lot about web development, like the usage of JavaScript and NextJS, and also a lot about app design by using the Figma application. Moreover, we also learned a lot about database integration into web applications.

What we learned

We learned a lot about working together as a team, planning/engineering a project in a short amount of time, and most importantly that a lack of sleep really does hinder your productivity

What's next for HelloNotRotten

We've already started implementing pagination and have a lot of ambitious ideas for a more complex and competent algorithm. (e.g.: Measuring the time spent on a meal, integrating ML into the algorithm). A lot of UI and UX improvements, like adding animation, transitioning between views, and more reactive interface.
