Simplify your culinary journey with the HelloFresh Assistant! We all love cooking, but the thought of deciding what to prepare and shopping for groceries can be overwhelming. That's why we've created a solution to enhance your _HelloFresh_experience.

What it does

The HelloFresh Assistant empowers HelloFresh customers to effortlessly choose next week's recipes tailored to their personal preferences, allergies, and lifestyle. Through natural language conversations with a chatbot, customers express their desires, from health goals like "I have diabetes" to personal tastes like "I HATE QUINOA" or "I loooovee Apples." Our system, employing denylists and advanced natural language processing, then crafts a personalized list of recommended HelloFresh recipes.

How we built it

Designed with functional openness and artificial intelligence at its core, the HelloFresh Assistant boasts a user-friendly text-to-speech interface. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology, we employed Laravel for the backend and Next.js for frontend development, ensuring a rapid and robust development process.

Challenges we ran into

Navigating the tight timeframe at HackaTUM 2023 posed an initial challenge. Additionally, integrating text-to-speech functionality presented difficulties. Despite these hurdles, we successfully delivered a product that prioritizes an exceptional user experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We take pride in seamlessly integrating natural language processing into our system, streamlining the user experience. The minimal user interactions required in our well-designed frontend make the process far less tedious. Furthermore, we've implemented sustainability filters, aligning with HelloFresh's commitment to eco-conscious choices.

What we learned

Our journey expanded our knowledge in OpenAI function calls, deepened our understanding of Laravel, Next.js, and software engineering.

What's next for the HelloFresh Assistant

Looking ahead, we plan to extend functionality by directly linking to the HelloFresh website and exploring the possibility of training our own models. Elevate your HelloFresh experience with the next level of culinary convenience!
