Inspiration

I wanted to get hands-on with Atlassian's Forge platform and better understand how apps integrate with Jira Cloud. The Novice level challenge provided the perfect opportunity to explore Forge’s app lifecycle, deployment process, and UI capabilities by building a simple yet functional "5P Welcome Forge World" app.

What it does

5P Welcome Forge World is a basic Forge app that adds a custom panel to Jira. The panel displays a simple customised "Hello, world!" message. Wanna know more ? You have to install it :)

How we built it

We used Atlassian Forge. The app was built using the Forge UI Kit and deployed via the Forge CLI.

Challenges we ran into

  • Tunneling and permissions

  • Ability to go by instructions
  • Successfully built and deployed a Forge app from scratch.

What we learned

We learned the basics of Forge development, including:

  • Setting up and deploying a Forge app with the CLI
  • Structuring Forge apps with manifest files and resolvers
  • Working with Atlassian’s UI Kit
