Inspiration

We were inspired by the joy of cooking and the frustration of recipe hunting that doesn't consider personal taste and health needs. The idea for HelloChef sprang from countless hours spent filtering through incompatible recipes. We envisioned a platform that not only finds recipes but also learns and adapts to individual dietary preferences and restrictions.

What it does

HelloChef is a culinary matchmaker, connecting users with recipes that cater to their unique palates and dietary requirements. It uses a sophisticated algorithm to track taste preferences and suggest dishes that are both delightful and safe to eat, considering any allergies. It's like having a personal chef who knows your taste better than you do!

How we built it

Using GoLang, the standard Go library and Gin, we were able to create a reliable and robust backend which is powered and displayed using Vue and Tailwind to create for a seamless User experience.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was fine-tuning the recommendation algorithm to accurately reflect complex dietary needs and taste evolution over time. Furthermore, we were challenged in terms of ensuring that our collection of data wasn't overbearing to the user, yet sufficient enough to provide matching recipes from the get go.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to develop a front-end experience that emphasises the user before all, combined with powerful UI/UX and a solid backend in GoLang, our little Chef is the complete package!

What we learned

We learnt the intricacies of balancing data collection and optimising user experience and immersion. The importance of user experience design was another key takeaway, as it is crucial to making technology accessible and enjoyable.

What's next for hello Chef

Looking towards the future, we are looking forward to building on our robust basis and implementing further functionalities such as the ability to save favourite recipes and the creation of new custom recipes harnessing the power of artificial intelligence.
