Inspiration
We knew we wanted to make something impactful for education. One of our team members is an artist who knew about the prohibitive price of art teachers and the essential need for feedback in improving a person's art skills. So, we decided to make a website that hones a user's art skills through personalized, specific criticism.
What it does
The website allows the user to upload a reference image and their own sketch. The Gemini AI then compares these and circles areas of improvement in their drawing and gives the user feedback to improve their sketch.
How we built it
We decided on the frameworks before building the website, then we used Cursor to build the website and generate the code.
Challenges we ran into
Learning how to manage API keys and calls; how to implement and use them in your program.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have made a website that has made art education more accessible and personalized.
What we learned
Navigating and understanding documentation and how to apply the information in it to our project and how to use the Gemini API was essential for the project. As none of us had prior experience with API's and working with these new technologies, this has been a major learning experience.
What's next for ArtMentor
Our next goal is to provide live feedback for the user during the development process for their art, which would allow the feedback to be even more specific and readily available. Overall, making ArtMentor more accessible by optimizing it for additional devices and form factors, allowing it to reach a broader audience.
