Inspiration

We realized that people meet great contacts all the time but rarely have a system to remember, organize, or nurture those relationships. We wanted to create a tool that makes personal networks visible, structured, and alive, a place where relationships don’t get lost.

What it does

Helix is a personal network management system that transforms every interaction into organized, searchable relationship data. It creates a living graph of your network, captures meeting notes, enriches them with AI-generated context, tags connections, and reminds you when to reconnect, helping your real network grow stronger over time.

How we built it

We built Helix around a graph-based data model, where each person is a node and each relationship is an edge enriched with attributes like meeting history, tags, notes, and next steps. After each new interaction, the user record\submits a short note. This note and our schema are sent to ChatGPT’s API, which returns structured fields: person details, connection metadata, tags, and summaries. These populate the network graph and update existing nodes or create new ones. The front end visualizes the network, allows quick editing, and provides timeline-based interaction tracking.

Challenges we ran into

Turning messy human input — partial memories, short notes, quick impressions — into clean, structured, and consistent data required careful schema design and prompt engineering. We also had to ensure intuitive visualization so users could see their network clearly without feeling overwhelmed.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a working system that transforms raw meeting notes into a dynamic, AI-enriched network graph. We built smooth input flows (voice, text, image), automated tagging, and a clean interface that makes personal relationship management surprisingly simple and actually enjoyable.

What we learned

We learned how powerful structured prompting can be in converting unstructured human input into actionable data. We also saw how graph visualization and tagging unlock new ways for users to understand their own networks — often revealing relationships they didn’t realize they had.

What's next for Helix

We plan to integrate calendar, email, and LinkedIn data; add smart reconnection prompts; build event-based suggestions; and enable cross-user network merging. Our goal is to become the personal CRM people actually love — a living system that helps relationships grow naturally over time.
