Inspiration

Making new friends as an adult can be surprisingly difficult. Existing social platforms often focus on content, dating, or large public events, while people looking for simple, genuine connections are left searching through scattered groups and posts.

HEDapp was inspired by the idea that meeting new people should feel natural, safe, and based on shared interests. The goal is to help users move from “I would like to do something” to actually finding someone to do it with.

What it does

HEDapp is a mobile application that helps people discover activities, connect with like-minded users, and build real-life relationships around shared interests.

Users can create a profile, select their interests, discover relevant people or activities, and use filters to find opportunities that match what they are looking for. The app is designed to make social discovery simple and approachable without turning every interaction into dating or professional networking.

How I built it

HEDapp was developed as a cross-platform mobile application using React Native and Expo.

The application includes a reusable component system, profile management, interest selection, filtering, authentication, and backend-connected user data. The interface was designed with a consistent visual language, accessible forms, and a mobile-first user experience.

The development process included:

designing and testing the user experience, building reusable UI components, connecting profile information with the backend, implementing search and filtering, reviewing the codebase for maintainability and security, and iteratively improving the application based on user feedback.
