As first-year students, most of us struggled to navigate our Bishop Heber College campus — finding the right block, classroom, lab, cafeteria, washroom, and department pathways. We realised that juniors, freshers, and even visitors face the same difficulty every day. At the same time, students also struggle with finding suitable job opportunities and matching their skills with the right career path.

So we decided to build one combined solution — a single app that helps students navigate the campus easily while also discovering job opportunities using a smart search engine.

This inspired us to create Heberian Path / QueryIQ, an all-in-one app that guides, supports, and empowers every student from Campus → Career.

Heberian is an all-in-one Campus and Career Assistant designed for Bishop Heber College students. The app provides clear navigation to classrooms, labs, departments, washrooms, and other key locations, along with a smart search engine (QueryIQ) for instant access to campus information. It also includes a resume-based job matching feature that recommends suitable opportunities for students. We built the application using React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, React Router, custom campus map data, and simple JavaScript-based parsing logic, with rapid prototyping done in Bolt.new. During development, we faced challenges such as mapping accurate campus pathways, integrating multiple modules smoothly, creating meaningful job suggestions, and managing time effectively. We are proud of designing a clean and responsive interface, implementing functional navigation and job-matching modules, and delivering a multi-feature app within the hackathon timeline. Through this project, we learned about front-end architecture, efficient UI design, data structuring, and collaborative development under constraints. In the future, we plan to enhance Heberian with indoor navigation, complete digital mapping of all blocks, AI-powered resume analysis, and additional student-centric features like timetables, notices, bus routes, and event updates.
