Thousands of animals are euthanized daily in shelters, many of which are simply due to the lack of resources for shelters to handle overcrowding. HeavyPetting works much like those commercials with African children, in that a small donation can pay for the sponsoring of a life in need. We show that the clock is ticking for a number of these animals, and demonstrate just how much time a generous donation can buy them. By more accurately displaying this sense of urgency for local animals, and streamlining the donation process, HeavyPetting allows shelters to greatly increase their donation totals and raise awareness, keeping more animals alive long enough to find suitable homes.
