Inspiration
When talking about the problems seen in the city, we began to look at the problems faced by homeless people, in particular. There is a daily struggle for food and shelter and this is what inspired us to build this app.
What it does
Users can login and explore the App that we have created. There are sponsor information pages that will help the users decide which local business they would most likely donate to.
How we built it
We used Android Studio, SQLite, Java
Challenges we ran into
None of us were familiar with app development or JAVA. So this was a challenge in itself altogether. In addition, understanding API's was very difficult. We tried to use Google to log in to our App, however, we faced the challenge of not being able to Log Out
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Learning how to design and implement the app. We had no prior experience and yet we were able to get something working. We also stayed until 4 am to try and finish :)
What we learned
Using Android Studio, Open Source, Android plug-ins, Databases, UI design, Version Control in a team. We were very close to figuring out how API's work, so that was a great learning experience as well.
What's next for Heartt
Figuring out a Payment option (hopefully using Google Pay). Also trying to set up the login through Google will be interesting to implement as well.
