Inspiration
As roommates, we had been a lot of time talking about the ideas in complexity science and how different fields unite in a similar school of thought. We figured what better way to dive into the knowledge base of complexity theory then two combine two of our passions. Our love for music and computer science led us to explore its intersection. Our goal is to tap into the artistic patterns in Artificial Intelligence and bring that to life with music based on the rhythm of someones heart.
What it does
Currently it does not do much because we are beginners and spend a lot of time building the framework for our website. At this stage, it takes in your fitbit heartrate data that you can get from the fitbit website and translates your heart rate to a rhythmic pattern that you can listen to. Though it is the bare bones right now, our goal is to usw this rhythm to make music based off of your heartbeat with AI.
How we built it
We used Django to build the website framework and the music21 python library to build the rhythm
Challenges we ran into
We ran into quite a few challenges with rendering things on the website and setting up our framework. We have not overcome how to embed the audio file of the heartbeat rhythm yet but this will be an ongoing project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our idea and are proud of everything we have learned in the last 24 hours!
What we learned
We learned about the implications of AI in music production, how to use Django to build a website framework and how to incorporate python scripts into our website.
What's next for Heart-Beats
Everything, we look forward to bringing our idea to life!
