Inspiration

Our team chose the Education theme as we are ourselves experiencing the impact of Covid-19 on our learning experience at university. As we discussed about remote learning, we realised how lucky we were in being able to adapt to this new setting contrary to other kids and students who have learning disabilities. As we conducted more secondary research, we realised that parents of special needs children were also very much affected as they were struggling to support them. Our product, Hear, came to light to respond to this problem.

What it does

With this platform, parents can have access to tools that help them organise their day according to their children's special needs, get curated learning content, communicate with special needs teachers and interact with parents going through the same experience.

How I built it

We built a prototype of the website with Figma.

Challenges I ran into

Some challenges we ran into include idea generation and video editing. As this is our first Hackaton, we started the first day without having brainstormed prior, hence why we took time to go deeper in our ideation. We also ran into some difficulties in editing the final version of our video as a special software was needed to directly add text on it.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are satisfied with the efficiency in creating a pitch and building a prototype in less than 24 hours.

What's next for Hear - Build Back Better Education

After the Hackaton, we will onboard the teachers and build relevant content and expert tracking tools to craft the most efficient remote online experience for these kids.
