Inspiration

During our hackathon, the prompt was to build something focused on mental health. I’ve been curious about brain waves myself, so I decided to create an app that teaches people about them and provides reliable study links.

What it does

  • 📖 Provides clear information about different brain waves.
  • 🧠 Displays gentle visuals that change with each wave state.
  • 🎧 Plays audio tracks tuned to Alpha, Beta, Theta, and Delta frequencies.

How we built it

  • React & Vite for a fast, component-driven UI.
  • Tailwind CSS for utility-first styling.
  • Aurora background and glassmorphism effects to create a calming atmosphere.
  • Netlify for instant deployment and global availability.

Challenges we ran into

I was excited to join the hackathon because I’m passionate about healthcare topics, but I also had exams. I completed the project in just nine days while balancing my studies—thanks to the hackathon organizers for this opportunity!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • I stepped out of my comfort zone with front-end work and discovered I actually enjoy it.
  • Created a fully responsive, calming interface.
  • Designed an eye-catching thumbnail that represents the app’s vibe.

What we learned

  • Always test across multiple browsers to catch compatibility issues.
  • Clearing cached credentials is essential when Git authentication fails.
  • Follow your passion—combine what you know with what you love to help others.

What's next for HealWave-Audio

  • Add user authentication to save personal preferences.
  • Enable psychologists to create and promote sessions on our platform.
  • Turn the site into a SaaS offering for on-demand audio therapy.
  • Introduce Gamma waves and custom frequency sessions.
  • Explore many more features to enhance user well-being.
