Inspiration

Social injustice can mean many things to various people. In this case, we decided to focus on healthcare, which is becoming increasingly difficult to access as the years go by. Families of diverse cultures face discrimination, certain doctors provide a different level of care based on a patient's race. The financial burden of required surgeries and medicine takes a toll on low-income families as well. We were inspired by these problems to develop HealTrack, an organized health tool that everyone can use.

What it does

HealTrack has many features, including a tracker, a medical record for keeping track of one's files, a physician finder, and a page of helplines. This development allows people to access healthcare comfortably while maintaining an organized medical history.

How we built it

We built HealTrack using mainly HTML and some JavaScript. We used applications, Replit, GitHub, and VSCode. We first coded on Replit so it would be easier to collaborate. Then, we moved the code to GitHub and VSCode, where we could load the website itself.

Challenges we ran into

We had trouble loading the development on Replit. So we moved platforms and used VSCode where it did work. We had trouble getting the sign-in and sign-up page to work as well.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of using HTML as we are not that comfortable with it. We are proud of getting the code to work as well.

What we learned

We learned how to collaborate as a team and maximize time efficiently. One of us learned more about GitHub while the rest coded more. We learned how to be resourceful when it came to challenges when implementing our code.

What's next for HealTrack

We plan to add a Google Maps API that will showcase the Physicians' locations. We also plan to connect to patient portals so patients have their medical files in one place. We would like to add another page, similar to the Physicians page, where we can filter insurance companies and find the appropriate match for the user. If we have more time, we would like to include more doctors from different areas besides Maryland.
