Inspiration

As busy high schoolers, we barely had time to think about what we were eating, let alone plan a diet. While apps exist to track nutrients, we couldn't find anything that simply told us what to eat based on our specific goals. So we built HealthyMe to do exactly that.

What it does

HealthyMe suggests meals tailored to your personal health goals, targeting the exact nutrients your body needs. Whether you want to boost focus, improve energy, or address specific health concerns, HealthyMe gives you meal recommendations precise enough to make a real difference.

How we built it

We built HealthyMe using Next.js 16, React 19, and Tailwind CSS, written in TypeScript. Google Gemini 2.0 Flash powers our nutrition estimation and meal suggestions, pulling real recipe data from TheMealDB API. We deployed on Vercel with no backend needed.

Challenges we ran into

Our original nutrition API was subscription-based and too expensive to use, so we had to research and migrate to a new one mid-hackathon. This cost us valuable time but taught us to vet our tools early.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of shipping a working app within the hackathon timeframe that delivers goal-driven meal suggestions. As high schoolers, building something this functional under time pressure is something we're really proud of.

What we learned

This was a formative experience for all of us. We learned how to prepare, collaborate, and brainstorm in pressure, and came up with real solutions four our app. So at the end, we’ve gained practical experience which we can bring with us for future hackathons

What's next for HealthyMe

We want to expand HealthyMe with high-demand features, including support for fast food and instant meals that still align with your nutrient goals, making healthy eating accessible even for the busiest lifestyles.
