Inspiration
My inspiration for this project was probably Fitbit. It has some awesome features to keep people healthy, mainly physically, but also mentally. The problem with Fitbit was that you needed to have a Fitbit to really track and access everything, which is why I created an alternative to that which has similar features to Fitbit, but you're able to access it without a Fitbit.
What it does
HealthyMe keeps you healthy physically and mentally.
Eating: You can get a list of the best foods to eat in different categories. There's also a healthy dessert recipes photo gallery. Lastly, there's a calorie intake calculator, so that you can calculate how many calories you need to intake per day in order to lose, gain, or maintain weight.
Exercising: There's a list of the best exercise strategies in order to make your exercising time really effective. You can also find a list of warm-up videos and beginner, medium, and hard-level workouts. The videos are all from Youtube, embedded in the website, so that you can watch them through the website.
Relax: There's a breathing simulator to help you take deep breaths when you really need to calm down. There's also a list of meditation videos that take anywhere from 5-15 minutes. The videos are all from Youtube, embedded in the website, so that you can watch them through the website.
Help: If you need help, there's a contact us page where you can contact us through a google form, through email, or through social media. There's also a chatbot that I created that's on every page of the website, and it can really help you out.
How we built it
I built the website using HTML, CSS, and JS. I also used a chatbot creator to create the code for the chatbot, and used a website where I could style my calorie intake calculator and then embed the code into the website.
Challenges we ran into
I had a really hard time making the chatbot, which is why I had to result to a chatbot creator. I also found out that sometimes working alone isn't the best thing, since I had to spend a lot of time on this. I wish that I had worked with a team so that we could all put in our thoughts and create a better website as a whole with different thoughts, perspectives, and ideas.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of the website that I created in the end, by myself. I'm really proud that I was able to have a chatbot and really have a lot of videos and resources that people could use. I'm also happy with the design element of my website. I don't always have great designs, but I tried out new things like sticky nav bars and more, which really improved the design of my website. It's also the most responsive website that I've ever created!
What we learned
As I stated above, I learned a lot of new concepts, but also general things. One of those being that it's better to work in a team than to work alone. You never know what you'll learn from others and your website will definitely be better with perspectives from multiple people than just one. The different skills I learned included making a chatbot, embedding code (like for Youtube videos), sticky nav bars, and more.
What's next for HealthyMe
Due to time constraints, I couldn't have as many features as I wanted in the website. I would definitely want to add more things like the calorie intake calculator. Maybe I could add something where they could track how many calories they have in a day? The same could be done with water, or how much time they exercise. I really want to add more of the tracking element, rather than information.
