Inspiration

Obesity is a growing epidemic, affecting over 42% of U.S. adults and nearly 1 in 5 children. With increasing screen time and unhealthy eating habits, we wanted to create a game that educates and engages players in making better dietary choices while keeping them active and entertained. Healthy Hustle was inspired by the idea that learning about health shouldn't be boring—it should be fun, interactive, and rewarding!

What It Does

Healthy Hustle is a 2D platformer where food choices directly impact gameplay. Eating junk food slows the player down, reduces stamina, and makes levels harder, while healthy choices improve agility, speed, and endurance.

Realistic physics mechanics simulate weight gain, movement difficulty, and stamina depletion. Dijkstra’s Algorithm ensures optimized movement pathways for an efficient fitness journey. Machine learning dynamically adjusts level difficulty based on player performance. The goal is simple: balance your diet, stay active, and complete challenges to become the ultimate healthy hustler!

How We Built It

We developed Healthy Hustle using: Python for core mechanics and AI-driven game balancing. Pygame for rendering and game physics. GenAI for adaptive gameplay, ensuring a fresh experience every time. Dijkstra’s Algorithm to optimize movement and pathfinding. Physics-based mechanics to accurately simulate weight shifts and stamina changes.

Challenges We Ran Into

Balancing fun and education: Making sure gameplay remains engaging while subtly teaching healthy habits. Physics complexity: Simulating realistic movement changes based on diet required fine-tuning. Machine learning integration: Adjusting level difficulty dynamically without making it frustrating.
