Inspiration
Predicting our everyday lives creates a safer and less stressful environment for the human race.
Just like how we want to know, if it will be raining the following day, it would be nice to predict if there are chances of a heart attack. We would take an umbrella with us to work if we knew about the bad weather. So what would we do if we knew there is a heart attack waiting for us around the corner?
What it does
Our app takes some input parameters from the user, about his lifestyle, age, gender etc. and compares them with our trained model. We compare the patient with 300 data records and predict, how likely is he to suffer from a heart attack.
It also provides us with some graphical views about calculated prediction, as well as with a tip to improve our health.
On top of that, based on the likelihood of heart attack, user receives a personalized joke, aka "meme".
How we built it
We built it using different technologies. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, BootStrap, Python, Flask, Machine Learning, Ai (Linear Regression, Decision trees & Neural networks). It is basically a web application.
Challenges we ran into
Our dataset was quite small, so we did not have as many samples as we would have liked.
This was our biggest drawback that we would easily improve with bigger datasets.
We also had to connect python to javascript and transfer the result from prediction to our website.
Blockchain technology caused us too much trouble in too little time so we had to abolish the idea about it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our model which is quite accurate despite our dataset being so small. We are also proud of each other's work, task distribution and the final result.
What we learned
We learned that using unknown technologies for developing our project, when we only have 24 hours until deadline is not completely sane idea. You spend way too much time on debugging and figuring out how things actually work.
What's next for Healthy Heart
Maybe a startup. We don’t know yet. Depends on the funding we will receive. If nothing else, we expect to scale and actually host website for the whole world to see. :)
