What it does
Our goal was to provide a resource in the form of a web application for individuals to eat healthier while supporting local businesses such as farmers markets. In our web app, users can take in an ingredient or a food they really enjoy as well as their location Zip code, and we display healthier alternatives and choices and encourage users to visit nearby farmers markets to shop for their produce.
How We built it
We built this using HTML, CSS, Python, and Flask.
Challenges We ran into
We really struggled in the beginning since we took a lot of time to learn our technologies, especially because it was Alvin's first time working on the backend, and Angela’s first time designing. We intended to have a navbar, but we didn't really like bootstrap's example navbars. We also had to youtube a lot of the things, including learning flask from scratch.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We’re proud of our home page design and that we were able to complete a basic version of our project, but we would have liked to add more specific functionality for searching for recipes and a better design on our recipe page since we ran out of time.
What's next for Healthy Food
We want to take the time to really think about the design since we're not so great at it. We also want to add functionality to make searches more specific and do more of what we intended the project to be. finally, we want to be able to host the app.
