This project is competing for the "Virtual Learning" and "Health Literacy" tracks.

Inspiration

It is important for the younger generation to learn more about healthcare knowledge and form healthy life habits. We want to raise their awareness of healthcare but also learn the knowledge in an interesting way. Past research has shown that using animations have positive effects on students' learning outcomes. Besides, we think animations are more attractive to young people and make learning more engaging and intriguing. We hope the website can also make healthcare knowledge more accessible to the public.

What it does

HealthWiki offers personalized animation courses on your healthcare concerns. Though our target users are young people, people of any age can explore it. By inputting your age, gender, and healthcare question topic, you can get a series of courses that answer your question. You can earn points by completing the courses and take a quiz to earn more. You can increase your "level" of HealthcareWiki professionals and get badges by earning points. The points can also be transferred to real-life values: connect with your health insurance and get discounts for healthcare-related goods. There is also a leaderboard where you can see the learning level of our users worldwide.

How we built it

We mainly used HTML and CSS to build the website. As for the animation courses, we built them using Scratch.

Challenges we ran into

We tried to find an innovative way of learning while keeping it intriguing and accessible to most people. Also, the actual time for the project was very limited.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the animation teaching we made. We created a story-flow for each of the animation and hopefully made them more engaging. This is the most innovative part of our project. Also the idea of personalized courses satisfies people's various needs.

What we learned

We learned how to use very limited time and resources to maximize the output as best as we can.

What's next for HealthWiki

If we have more time and people really doing the project, we hope to real-code the mock pages and make the personalization part come true. If it's possible, we hope to actually reach out to the companies and link the users with healthcare goods discounts.
