Inspiration

We classmates were inspired to work together as a team and come out with a project that helps humanity, even if in the smallest way possible. We are also very actively learning new things, being computer-science enthusiasts and were motivated to take this up as a challenge and opportunity for collaboration with our peers, while having fun.

What it does:

Our project tracks the BMI of individuals in a fun way. We allow the user to input their height and weight to find out their BMI, over an extended period of time.

How we built it

We created the application with SvelteJS, Python FastAPI, and containerising technologies like Docker and SystemD services. The development process was aided by use of Git and collab coding.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many challenges including sacrifice on security for our front-end developer, with merging conflicts and many more. But we managed to combat these challenges and learn from them. We also found it hard to collaboratively work on a platform like vs code, but we figured it out in the end!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a working website with user login in few days that combines health monitoring (BMI), making something very useful. We’re proud that we successfully integrated multiple tools and languages into a seamless and fun project.

What we learned

We learnt a lot of things in the process. While we had to catch-up on and refreshen-up with lots of concepts, we also learnt lots from each other.

What's next for HealthOutlook:

We would love to further develop our skills to build on projects that benefit humanity as we learn and grow as a team. We await for more challenges in the future. Specifically regarding our HealthWatch website we built, we would love to improve it better and add more side-skills to it, like tracking nutritional requirements too.
