Inspiration

Essentially a glorified todo list but health orientated

What it does

HealthUP is a decentralised Appointment/Health management system allowing users to have quick and reliable access to the webapp even if cloudfare is down. It helps the user in making appointments in a streamlined manner and presents their lab results or any health related data in one location. Health institutions will be able to interact with user data, updating it after each visit so that the user will always know what their current health condition is. Users can also update their data upon noticing any symptoms or change in physique.

How we built it

We built this web app using python, solidity, web3py, flask, ganache, html, css and javascript. Ganache simulates the blockchain and flask is used as a medium to interact with it. We used flask to rapidly prototype a webapp and ganache to rapidly develop our smart contract. web3py was used to communicate between the flask server and the solidity smart contract

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many errors that were so rare that it wasnt even documented or nobody had experienced it on stackexchange before. solidity also has greatly changed over the years so many old threads/guides were not relevant. We are not solidity experts so it took us some time to debug the errors or find workarounds.

For example web3py has no function to handle solidity errors unlike web3js so we had to resort to try/except loops in order to detect whether the transaction was reverted since there is no way to return the error in web3py so it crashes the server

Accomplishments that we're proud of

we still managed to ship a MVP despite the lack of documentation and our experience as a team since we are all high school students.

What we learned

Learned how to google effectively and how to make the same error 5 times in a row, learned that we don't actually know how to code.

What's next for HealthUp

Data validation on UI/UX, improvement and optimisation of the smart contract.
