Inspiration
Coronary heart disease is becoming an endemic in all parts of the world, and especially epidemic in SAARC countries. It is a silent killer - approximately three million have “silent” heart attacks, experiencing minimal symptoms. Existing conclusive diagnostic procedures like coronary angiogram are invasive, potentially harmful, costly and cannot be performed without specialized infrastructure and skilled manpower. It is important to diagnose this preventive condition of CAD with affordable non-invasive mass screening.
What it does
Traditional blood pressure cuffs can be obtrusive and painful. HeartSense is simple and easy to use - just place your finger over your smart phone camera! HeartSense uses photoplathysmograph (PPG) to monitor real-time, continuous heart-rate and blood pressure. PPG uses light based technology to capture changes in blood flow. PPG can be used to detect a wide range of physiological parameters, including heart rate, respiratory rate, SpO2, & blood pressure.
1) Place your finger over your smartphone camera. 2) Take a video of your finger at rest. 3) The video is digitally processed to extract reflective PPG. 4) Data is securely stored and can be easily shared on the cloud
