Inspiration
Given the current pandemic situation and its adverse effects on the healthcare system, our team wanted to find a solution to reduce contact between individuals while improving efficiency at hospitals.
What it does
The HealthScan application is for patients. It transfers the information from their Medicare card into a digitalized form of a QR code. Please visit the attached presentation link to view the complete overview of our proposal.
How we built it
Unfortunately, our team is composed of beginner coders and could not find the time to create a working backend/frontend connected to a database and all. Our project is in the format of a proposal.
Challenges we ran into
We spent half of Saturday trying to figure out how to make a QR code generator in Android Studio at the same time as teaching ourselves to use a database. These tasks were deemed too difficult for our level of knowledge, so we decided to at least present the product we would have liked to make.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have at least something to show for in our very first hackathon!
What we learned
We learned that creating an entire project in one day is basically impossible. There are so many things to consider. Ideas are constantly being bounced around, plans change, issues occur, and much more. A project is something that should be done over the course of weeks if not months, depending on the size.
What's next for HealthScan
Maybe one day, we will actually get the chance to create a working HealthScan mobile application.
