Inspiration
HealthPilot was born from the idea that everyone should have access to basic health guidance. Many people experience symptoms but don't know whether they should seek medical attention or how to manage their health day-to-day.
What it does
HealthPilot is an AI-powered health management web application with three core features:
- Symptom Checker: Users describe their symptoms in natural language, and the system provides severity-based alerts along with recommended hospital departments.
- BMI Calculator: Calculates Body Mass Index and provides personalized health advice.
- Daily Health Tips: Offers practical tips covering diet, exercise, sleep, and mental health.
How we built it
Built with Node.js and Express for the backend, with a responsive HTML/CSS/JavaScript frontend. The symptom analysis uses a keyword-based matching system covering 10 common health conditions.
Challenges
Designing a comprehensive symptom database that covers both Chinese and English symptoms while keeping the application simple and fast.
What we learned
We learned about healthcare UX design, the importance of clear medical disclaimers, and how to build a full-stack web application from scratch.
