Inspiration

We wanted to make healthcare easier for everyone, so we created a chatbot and website. Our inspiration came from seeing how hard it is for people to navigate the healthcare system and find reliable information quickly. We believe that everyone, no matter where they are, should easily get personalized health info and book appointments without any hassle. We're also excited about how technology can make healthcare better, like using smart algorithms and artificial intelligence(AI). Our goal is to be part of this positive change, using technology to improve how people connect with healthcare, making it more accessible and user-friendly for everyone.

What it does

Our HealthMate website is like a helpful friend for your health needs. It has a AI integrated chatbot that works all the time, 24/7, answering your questions and even suggesting home remedies or medicines based on your symptoms. You can prompt to the chatbot, read reviews, find information, and do important things like booking appointments or buying medicines, all in one place. It's made to be simple and helpful, making your healthcare experience smooth and stress-free.

How we built it

Creating the HealthMate website was like building a virtual health helper. We started by making a friendly and easy-to-use homepage using HTML, CSS, Javascript and Bootstrap. As we added more pages about medicines and online buying, we also made sure to include a 'Contact Us' page for users to ask questions or give feedback. Later, we decided to make things even better by adding a AI integrated chatbot to our website. This chatbot is like a smart assistant that can talk to users and help them with health-related questions. We used a tool called Kommunicate to make the chatbot smarter. It understands what users say by using Natural Language Processing (NLP). It suggests helpful responses based on the words users use. This way, our website not only gives information but also talks with users in a helpful and friendly way, making healthcare easy and accessible for everyone. The chatbot was trained to respond to user prompts, making use of Kommunicate's API to suggest relevant prompts. This integration reflects our dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements, ensuring that HealthMate not only provides valuable information but also delivers dynamic and personalized healthcare support to users in real-time.

Challenges we ran into

While working on our project, we encountered a challenge when training the dataset for predicting diseases based on user-input symptoms. Some symptoms, like fever or headache, can be common to multiple diseases. This made it tricky because our system sometimes predicted different diseases that share similar symptoms. We had to fine-tune our training process to improve the accuracy of predictions and make sure users receive the most relevant information about their health concerns. Another challenge we tackled was making the website work well on any device. We wanted the HealthMate website to be user-friendly whether someone was using a computer, tablet, or phone. This meant making the website responsive, so it adjusts and looks good no matter the device.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to say that we successfully put the medical assistant bot into our website smoothly, making it easy for users to get help with their health questions. We worked hard to solve technical problems and make sure the platform is safe and secure, showing how serious we are about providing a top-notch healthcare solution. The cool thing is that this chatbot is available all the time, 24/7, and can be used by any pharmacy to deliver medicines, making it even more helpful for people who need their medications conveniently.

What's next for HealthMate

In the future, we want to make our smart medical assistant even better. We're going to create a safe place to store user information so we can offer more personalized help, like giving specific health advice and suggesting nearby pharmacies. We also plan to provide useful details about medicines and tablets. On the technical side, we're working on making the whole system more connected, including features like easy logins, signups, information about healthcare facilities, and the option to buy things online. This way, we're making sure that using our system is easy and helpful for everyone.
