Inspiration
I was inspired to make this project because I think that health is something that is great for self improvement. Also, people often neglect their health because they are busy with work, which is the case with my parents as well. So, I wanted to make an app that could actually fix a real problem and help people self improve.
What it does
HealthLens is an app where users can learn more about their health. First, there is a login screen that takes the users name and uses it throughout the app. Then, users can put in their information in the home screen, such as their height and weight, then the app will use AI to assess the users information and present any possible health concerns, so the user can be more informed of their own health. Lastly, there is also an AI chatbot where users can ask any health concerns based on their risk assessment to the bot.
How I built it
I built HealthLens using the MIT App Inventor. I used OpenAI's API to create an AI chatbot and AI assessment.
Challenges I ran into
This was my first time using any kind of AI in an app, so it was challenging to figure out how to get API keys and how to use them in my code. However, I am grateful I was able to run into these challenges as know I am more experienced to put AI in more of my coding projects.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud that I was able to integrate AI into my app and get it to work.
What I learned
I learned more about API keys, specifically OpenAI and how to use it to get AI features. I also learned how to use the MIT App Inventor.
What's next for HealthLens
I would like to expand HealthLens to include more features in the future
