There are so many habit trackers out there today- the only problem is they're for adults. In order to establish a healthy lifestyle, it's important to instill life-long, healthy habits at a young age. We were also inspired by childhood memories of playing the board game Candyland and the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” By combining these two concepts we came up with a digital game called Healthlandia: A Habit Tracker for Kids.

Our goal with this website is to inspire better eating and exercise habits for children while still making the experience fun and enjoyable. With the increasing use of computer games amongst the youth, this is a great way for them to keep themselves accountable on a device they already own.

We began with repl.it to collaborate with our code, but we quickly discovered we would need to use a database, so we switched to Glitch-a platform we learned to use during one of the OhloneHacks workshops! Though there was a bit of a learning curve, we gained knowledge from our other team members, learning how to use flexbox and jQuery, design a database, create a timer, and more. It was amazing to be working in a space where all of our voices were able to be heard.
