Inspiration
During the Pandemic a lot of people have suffered from the situation of accessibility to hospitals as most of the hospitals in India were focused on covid patients which led to less availability of beds for any other diseases.
What it does
This web app helps to predict if a person has chances of being inflicted with the disease. It can help predict various diseases like Breast cancer, Liver disease etc.
How I built it
It uses Machine learning models to predict the chances with high accuracy. Models were saved using Joblib which is an excellent module for saving models and reducing computation time. Web application was developed using flask and Heroku, Netlify has been used for deployment. Webpages were made using HTML, Bootstrap. The site can be opened on mobile as well, it is responsive.
Challenges I ran into
Working on the HTML and Bootstrap was one of the challenges as I am not very proficient in working with these languages. One major challenge for me was the deployment and making the site friendly for users so that they can navigate easily through any disease prediction.
Accomplishments
Given the time constraint, I am glad that I was able to make a web app in a short duration without compromising on the accuracy of the model and quick prediction.
Uniqueness
There are various models for the prediction of diseases but there is no application that gives us the functionality for so many diseases. It's like one platform for all.
What's next for Healthify
Few additions which I thought of are
- Chatbot for fixing an appointment with the doctor according to the disease
- Personal assistant like thingy which will point out what predictor variable is can be dangerous if not taken care like sugar for diabetes patient.
