Inspiration

We were inspired by the Samsung Health app. Samsung Health is more than just a glorified step or calorie tracker. It can track your weight, calorie intake/burn, steps, runs, heart rate, stress levels, caffeine intake, blood pressure, sleep, blood glucose, bike rides, hikes, and a lot more.

What it does

Samsung Health is a fitness tracking app loaded with features, many of which have proven useful to most people. Our mobile application Healthify, has 2 main features. A profile page displaying the user information and then providing a summary/suggestion to the user. A calculator that can help the user calculate their Body Mass Index (BMI), recommended daily calories intake and body fat percentage.

How I built it

The mobile application is built using android studio and the programming language used is kotlin.

Challenges I ran into

I have tried to implement the SQLITE database for persistence storage but the overview of the user information only shows what I have edited, but does not uses the formula to calculate its BMI, Calorie Intake and Body fat details. Instead I have created a separate calculator for each of the these functions.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of able to improve the wellness of the user by helping them calculate their BMI, Calorie Intake and Body Fat information. As they are able to keep track of their information of the user health and provide useful recommendations for them. Yong Liang and I are proud to be showing our work that demonstrates this aspect.

What I learned

Yong Liang and I have learned to create an app from scratch, as it is not easy doing one. We have coded by using our imagination of how our process of app is like for tireless hours.

What's next for Healthify

What we plan to do next is to include a feature that allows users to create personalized meals and fitness plans based on the information that they provide. If possible, we would also like to include steps counter and heart rate tracker.
