Inspiration
Don’t we all struggle to build healthier habits? Online challenges give no motivation nor real expert advice, and the standard analysis is too narrow never taking the whole aspects of our performance into consideration, which makes existing apps of little use. And whenever we seek an expert’s advice, they always ask for too much money.
What it does
Our mobile application you will help you work step by step to become a better and healthier person. We use your data in a secure and completely private way to help coaches understand you and your needs better than anyone else, to give you effective advice to improve and overcome your daily challenges.
How we built it
Healthier uses a hybrid model-based recommendation system that is both content and collaborative based to recommend challenges to users. The system takes into account user data, users’ interests and general data such as challenges and coaches ratings.
Challenges we ran into
The different users personas when diving into this problem makes it a bit tricky to target the most affective way to tackle this issue, which made us dedicate more time than expected to conduct a thorough analysis of different psychological approaches to make real impact to one's behavior.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to find a simple solution to a very complex problem by tackling it from a new angle. Our app makes it easy and fun for users to work on building healthier habits by gamifying the process and making expert's advice one click away. We found an innovative way to make coaching easier and faster exploiting machine learning algorithms that turn users' data into valuable information.
What we learned
We learned better about human nature by studying the psychology of habits and how to affectively solve the problem. We have also learned to challenge ourselves and better work within a team by identifying each individual's skills and put them into good use.
What's next for Healthier
We believe Healthier has the potential to grow fast with the rapide growth of data. It also has no physical boarders making it easier for us to target promising new markets. Not to mention our users’ experience easier with the continuous additions such as the web platform that’s gonna help coaches better manage their customers.
