Inspiration

HealthHubYYC was inspired by the growing need for a comprehensive healthcare resource in Calgary. We recognized the challenges individuals face in accessing healthcare services, booking appointments, and finding vaccination sites efficiently. HealthHubYYC aims to address these challenges and improve healthcare accessibility for all Calgarians.

What it does

HealthHubYYC is a centralized platform that simplifies healthcare navigation for Calgarians. It allows users to seamlessly book appointments, locate nearby hospitals, and find vaccination sites in their area. With user-friendly interfaces and real-time updates, HealthHubYYC empowers individuals to take control of their healthcare journey.

How we built it

We built HealthHubYYC using a combination of modern web development technologies, including React.js for the frontend and Flask for the backend. The platform integrates with GoogleMapsAPI to provide real-time data on hospital locations, appointment availability, and vaccination sites. The data for the coordinates of the hospital and vaccinations site were obtained from https://data.calgary.ca

Challenges we ran into

The most challenging thing was definitely integrate the Google Maps API. I had to learn how to use it the API reading the documentation from the scratch and by default all the markers are red so integrating new icons to differentiate the markers was challenging

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of developing an application that can significantly improve the lives of Calgarians. Allowing them to able to access medical care with ease and the UI of the platform is visually appealing and easy to use

I learnt how to use GoogleMapsAPI with React, I also learnt how to built a booking system and use ICS in react

What's next for HealthHubYYC

n the future, we aim to expand HealthHubYYC's capabilities by incorporating features such as telemedicine consultations, personalized health recommendations, and community health event notifications. We also plan to enhance the platform's scalability and performance to accommodate a growing user base. Ultimately, our goal is to make HealthHubYYC the ultimate healthcare companion for Calgarians, empowering them to lead healthier lives.
