Inspiration
We built HealthHub to create an easy way for people to access health services, set appointments with doctors, and get reliable information related to their medical needs in one centralized platform. We wanted to make finding and connecting with healthcare providers simpler and more efficient.
What it does
HealthHub allows users to search for doctors and health services based on specialty, location, accepted insurance plans, and more. It enables users to book appointments, video chat with providers, access health records, manage medications, and get personalized health insights powered by AI assistants.
How we built it
HealthHub was built using React Native for the front-end mobile experience with Cloud Healthcare API and MongoDB powering the back-end. User authentication is handled by Firebase. The app follows HIPAA compliance guidelines for security.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating with various decentralized electronic health record systems was an initial challenge we had to overcome. Enabling secure access to protected health information while complying with healthcare regulations was also tricky.
Accomplishments we're proud of
We're proud to have created an easy-to-use and integrated healthcare access point for people to take control of their medical journeys. Key highlights include appointment management, prescription tracking, Symptom Checker integration, and partnerships with leading regional healthcare providers.
What we learned
Working on HealthHub taught us a lot about the complexities of digital healthcare while highlighting opportunities to leverage technology to connect patients with the care they need conveniently. We're excited to continue enhancing HealthHub.
What's next for HealthHub
Some of the key features on our roadmap include personalized health dashboards with insights and trends, wearable device integration for real-time health data, medication adherence improvement programs, and an improved Symptom Checker with differential diagnosis capabilities.
