Inspiration

Our team was inspired by the everyday challenges people face when managing their healthcare needs. We recognized that the current healthcare system is fragmented, with patients struggling to navigate multiple platforms for different aspects of their care. The five key problems we identified were:

Scattered health records across various providers
Difficulty in accurately assessing symptoms
Time-consuming searches for appropriate healthcare providers
Complicated appointment scheduling processes
Cumbersome prescription refill procedures

These pain points motivated us to create an integrated solution that would streamline the entire healthcare management process for patients.

How We Built It

Our development process followed six key stages:

Ideation: We started with problem identification and solution proposal, creating the concept of HealthHive as an integrated healthcare app.
Tech Planning: We carefully selected our technology stack:
- Python for backend development
- Flask as our web framework
- HTML/CSS for frontend design
- MongoDB for database management
- Various healthcare APIs for integration
Development: We built the frontend, backend, and integrated our database system to create a cohesive application.
API Integration: We added:
- LLM integration for our AI-powered chatbot
- Maps API for the provider search feature
- AI scheduling system for appointments
Testing & Security: We implemented:
- Robust encryption protocols
- Multifactor authentication
- Thorough testing of the chatbot and all features
Deployment: Final testing, user feedback collection, and launch preparation

Challenges We Faced

Data Integration: Ensuring seamless integration of various health records while maintaining data privacy and security.
AI Accuracy: Fine-tuning the AI symptom checker to provide accurate preliminary guidance without replacing professional medical advice.
Provider Network: Building a comprehensive and up-to-date database of healthcare providers for the Provider Finder feature.
Scheduling Complexity: Developing an AI-powered scheduling system that could handle the intricacies of medical appointments.
User Interface: Creating an intuitive interface that could be easily navigated by users of all ages and technical abilities.
