Inspiration
I was researching over healthcare and the treatment of individuals in the healthcare system. I realized the disparity in treatment based on skin color. People of color are more likely to pass away from a variety of ailments at a very alarming rate.
What it does
The website stores a variety of biometric data that can be viewed by the patient and the doctor. The system or healthcare professional can then flag the data if it finds some issue. For example, if the patient's mental health has become an issue, the healthcare team will know immediately and be able to help the patient. Furthermore, the app contains a chatbot that will be able to communicate with the patient and provide them with reassurance or with tips and resources for whatever questions that they may have.
How we built it
I primarily used react in order to develop each of the individual pages within the website, but also utilized CSS in order to format the strings and images that appeared on each of these pages.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges I ran into was using the amount of trial and error involved when it came to creating the individual pages within the website. I also had to realize that a lot of the functionality I wanted in the website would not be able to be implemented due to the time constraint.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I feel that I am most proud of completing the website within the timeframe, despite starting later due to schoolwork.
What we learned
I learned to be much more syntax in relation to react, but I also became much more well-versed in APIs, which will help me create much better projects in future hackathons.
What's next for Healthhelp
A couple things need to be improved with Healthhelp. The website needs be connected with firebase so that data can be stored over a longer period of time, and I think the website would have more appeal if a community feature was added.
