Inspiration
In areas with large populations and not enough doctors, it can be hard for people to get the medical help they need. We wanted to create a solution to make healthcare more accessible in these places, especially in third-world countries, by using AI to lighten doctors’ workloads and help patients get faster support.
What it does
HealthExpress is an AI-powered voice assistant that talks to patients over the phone, asking questions about their symptoms. It builds a detailed report with their symptoms, key health risks, and other medical details, so when doctors see the patient, they already have a clear picture and can focus on what’s most important.
How we built it
We used AI and language processing to understand patient symptoms and create helpful follow-up questions. There’s a backend database to securely store patient information and a frontend in Flask for doctors to view the reports, making the consultation process faster and smoother.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges with making sure the AI asked the right questions and understood patients’ responses accurately. Another big task was keeping the data safe and following privacy rules since we’re handling sensitive medical information.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud to have made a tool that helps solve the healthcare access problem by giving patients a quicker, easier way to start consultations. Also, our AI’s accuracy in gathering important medical details for doctors makes us feel we’re making a real impact.
What we learned
This project taught us a lot about how AI can help in healthcare and about the responsibility of managing private health information. We also learned more about gathering and understanding medical data effectively.
What's next for HealthExpress?
Next, we want to add support for multiple languages so more people can use HealthExpress. We’re also looking to work with healthcare providers to improve the AI’s questions and help it recognize a wider range of symptoms and health conditions.
