🌟 Inspiration SkillSwap was born from observing the untapped potential within local communities—where individuals possess valuable skills but lack accessible, cost-free ways to exchange them. As the cost of living continues to rise, we envisioned a platform that enables neighbors to support one another through skill-sharing, without monetary transactions. Our mission is to foster trust, strengthen community ties, and reduce dependency on cash by creating a decentralized, human-centric exchange system.

🤝 What It Does SkillSwap is a web-based platform that facilitates peer-to-peer skill exchange. Users can offer or request help in areas such as tutoring, gardening, bike repairs, or language lessons. Core features include:

Task Listings: Users post skills they can offer or tasks they need help with

AI Matching: Smart pairing based on location, availability, and mutual needs

Voice & Video Proposals: Personalized offers powered by ElevenLabs and Tavus

Blockchain-Verified Points: Earned for each exchange and stored on Algorand

Charity Integration: Points can be donated or reinvested in future exchanges

Community Recognition: Leaderboards and public profiles highlight active contributors

SkillSwap promotes a trust-based ecosystem where collaboration replaces currency.

⚙ How We Built It We adopted a no-code/low-code approach to accelerate development:

Bolt.new: Generated the app’s structure and logic

Supabase: Managed authentication, user profiles, and secure task data

Algorand: Enabled decentralized point tracking and verification

ElevenLabs: Provided AI-generated voice clips for task proposals

Netlify: Hosted and deployed the app with continuous integration from Git

This modular stack allowed us to build a scalable and user-friendly MVP with minimal overhead.
