Inspiration
The covid pandemic really open our eyes to the innovative medical technology. Using many covid tests we realized that such a compact design is very versatile and efficient. This inspired us to work with this innovative product to improve it and make it easier to use and read.
What it does
Our product collects the cartridge in a side drawer after the customer inserts the fluid part. Then, after the drawer is inserted into the slot, they are prompted to press the button to start the process. This button activates the PCB which sends a signal to actuator to push the fluid through the cartridge. Then the lights and camera are activated taking a picture and sending it to the PCB where it is then interpreted and displayed using the LCD screen.
How we built it
Started with developing each component following all constraint requirements: Drawer Camera and mount Lights User Interface Motor and mount Linear Actuator Encasing Shell
Challenges we ran into
Keeping our assembly within the overall dimension constraints was challenging. It required lots of research into parts that were small. Developing the linear actuator was difficult as well meshing the rack and pinion.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully creating the assembly within the constraint requirements.
