Inspiration

As a student living alone in the outskirts of Vadodara, India, I experienced firsthand the challenges of accessing healthcare in remote locations. With no family or relatives nearby, seeking medical help became a significant challenge. The nearest clinics were 5-10 kilometers away, making it difficult to get timely medical assistance.

The journey

My healthcare technology journey began during my second year when I was tasked with creating an app for community forms. This initial project used React Native to develop forms for medical staff to collect patient information. However, I realized this solution only benefited hospitals and doctors, not the patients themselves. During a hackathon, I attempted to create a healthcare chatbot using Python and Streamlit. Although the prototype wasn't selected, this experience taught me valuable lessons about healthcare technology and user needs. The rejection motivated me to learn React Native and improve my development skills.

Challenges

One of my biggest challenges was the lack of proper mentorship and guidance. I had the raw idea and determination but lacked the technical expertise and support system. Despite these obstacles, I continued to learn and develop my skills independently.Working alone and with limited time, I focused on creating a functional prototype that demonstrates the core concept.

Solution

The HealthCare App is my attempt to create a one-stop solution for medical problems. While similar apps exist in the market, my goal is to create a more comprehensive and user-friendly platform. The current prototype includes: Symptom analysis Doctor finder Appointment booking Health chat Medical history tracking

The Future vision

The app has potential for numerous enhancements: Direct video call integration with doctors Real-time health monitoring Emergency services integration Prescription management Telemedicine features

Conclusion

This project represents my first attempt at implementing a healthcare solution in React Native. While it's still a prototype, it showcases my commitment to solving real-world healthcare accessibility problems. I believe with proper mentorship and support, this app could evolve into a comprehensive healthcare solution that truly serves the needs of people in remote areas. The HealthCare App is not just a project; it's a reflection of my personal experience and determination to make healthcare more accessible to everyone, especially those living in remote areas without immediate access to medical facilities.
