Prior Authorization is a critical healthcare process that often involves reviewing clinical documents, validating medical necessity, identifying missing information, and coordinating approvals across multiple stakeholders. These activities are highly manual, time-consuming, and prone to delays.
The inspiration behind Healthcare Prior Authorization Agent is to leverage Gemini and Google Cloud to automate these complex workflows and reduce administrative burden on healthcare organizations.
What it does
Healthcare Prior Authorization Agent is an autonomous AI system that:
- Analyzes clinical and authorization documents
- Extracts diagnoses, procedures, and relevant medical information
- Identifies missing or incomplete requirements
- Generates authorization recommendations
- Creates summarized review reports
- Tracks authorization status and workflow progress
- Assists reviewers with intelligent decision support
Unlike traditional chatbots, the agent actively performs workflow tasks and assists in end-to-end prior authorization processing.
How we built it
